6. Our Lawful Bases for Using Your Information

Under UK data protection law, we need a lawful basis for processing personal information. Depending on the circumstances, we may rely on:

Consent
Where you have given us permission to use your information for a particular purpose, such as receiving marketing or Community communications. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

Legitimate interests
Where processing is reasonably necessary for operating and improving FASHIONbytes, managing our Community and events, understanding participation, responding to enquiries, or maintaining appropriate business records, provided that these interests do not override your rights and interests.

Contract
Where processing is necessary to provide a service, booking or other arrangement you have requested or entered into with us.

Legal obligation
Where we need to process or retain information to comply with applicable law.

The lawful basis used will depend on the specific information and purpose involved.

7. Community Information

When you join the FASHIONbytes Community, we may collect information such as your name, email address, Instagram handle, professional background, interests and information you voluntarily provide about what you are working on, looking for or finding challenging.

We use this information to manage Community participation, understand our members, develop relevant Community activities and improve the Community over time.

If you choose to participate in a FASHIONbytes Community space hosted through a third-party platform, such as Instagram, your use of that platform is also subject to the privacy practices and terms of the relevant provider.

Information you choose to share directly with other Community members may be visible to those members. Please consider what information you are comfortable sharing in Community spaces.

8. Events

When you register for a FASHIONbytes event, we may collect information required to manage your registration, attendance and related communications.

Some event registrations are managed through Eventbrite. Where you use Eventbrite, information may also be processed by Eventbrite in accordance with its own privacy practices.

We may use event information to understand attendance and participation and to improve future FASHIONbytes events and Community activities.

If photography or filming takes place at an event, appropriate information or notices will be provided where required.

Our email and newsletter communications are currently managed through Squarespace.

You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe option provided in the communication or by contacting us at enquiries@fashion-bytes.com.

Withdrawing from marketing communications will not prevent us from sending essential administrative or service-related messages where necessary.

10. Where Your Information Is Stored and Who We Share It With

These currently include:

Squarespace
Used for the FASHIONbytes website, website forms, Community form submissions and email/newsletter communications.

FASHIONbytes does not sell your personal information.

11. International Data Transfers

Some of the third-party services we use may process or store information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred internationally and UK data protection law requires safeguards, we will use or rely on appropriate mechanisms or safeguards provided for under applicable data protection law.

Third-party providers may also process information according to their own international data-transfer arrangements.

12. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and for any legitimate business, legal or regulatory requirements.

The appropriate retention period may depend on the type of information, why it was collected, whether you remain involved with FASHIONbytes, and whether we are required to retain it for legal or administrative purposes.

We periodically review information we hold and may delete or anonymise information that is no longer required.

You may contact us if you would like to request deletion of your personal information, subject to any circumstances in which we are legally entitled or required to retain it.

13. How We Protect Your Information

We take reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

Access to personal information is limited to people who reasonably need it for FASHIONbytes activities and operations.

We encourage you to review the relevant privacy information when using external services.

16. Cookies and Website Technologies

The FASHIONbytes website may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the website to operate and, where enabled, to understand website performance and usage.

Where consent is legally required for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, users will be given an appropriate choice before those technologies are used.

Further information about cookies used on the website is provided through the FASHIONbytes Cookie Policy and applicable cookie controls.
